Year 6 have been looking at sustainability. For D&T they were given the task to prepare a meal. They had to ensure that the meal was healthy, suitable for vegetarians and cost less than £5. The children got busy researching different vegetarian meals that were also healthy and then headed off to Morrisons to go shopping for their ingredients. Once they got back to school the children got down to business; chopping, boiling, peeling and preparing their meals.
Here are some pictures of their final dishes. As you can see, the children took a lot of time and pride in the presentation of their dish. However, it took them more time to prepare their meals, than to eat it. I think it’s safe to say that they were successful in creating a tasty, vegetarian dish.
