Preventing Radicalisation
Introduction
Since 1 July 2015, schools have been entrusted with a critical duty outlined in section 26 of the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015. This duty requires that schools, in the exercise of their functions, give "due regard to the need to prevent people from being drawn into terrorism." At Colegrave Primary School, we take this responsibility seriously and are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our school community.
Our Approach
Colegrave Primary School firmly believes that extremism and radicalisation should be treated as safeguarding concerns. We hold the values of freedom of speech and the expression of beliefs in high regard, extending these principles to both our pupils and adults, who have the right to express their opinions freely and without fear.
Our school ethos is centred on building resilience in our pupils against radicalisation by actively promoting fundamental British values and equipping them with the ability to challenge extremist views.
